Car Insurance on Technical Inspection
Technical inspection of the vehicle
This is a check on the "organs" of your vehicle. 133 test points are planned, of which 63 are subject to compulsory repair in the event of failure. This check must be carried out by an approved body within 6 months preceding the date of the 4th anniversary of the vehicle's first entry into service.
A follow-up visit within two months must also take place in the event of an anomaly reported during the first check.
Period of validity of a technical inspection
All vehicles must pass their 1st technical inspection within 6 months of the 4th anniversary of the day of their 1st entry into service.
Periodic inspections are then renewable every 2 years from the date of the previous check.
Technical inspection for a vehicle for sale
There is no point in having your car pass the technical control if it is less than 4 years old.
In the event of the sale of a vehicle that is more than 4 years old, the inspection must be less than 6 months old. The seller has the check carried out and must give the report to the buyer. If the compulsory repairs have not been carried out, the buyer will not be able to obtain the registration document.
Technical inspection for a vintage vehicle for sale
If you wish to sell your collector's vehicle, the technical control is not compulsory if it is over 25 years old and if you have a specific "Collector's vehicle" registration card.
To obtain a "Collector's vehicle" gray card, the vehicle must have undergone a favorable car insurance technical inspection of less than 6 months.
Risks incurred in the event of non-technical inspection
If you do not carry out the technical inspection of your vehicle, you incur severe penalties: fines of 90 euros which can be increased to 135 euros and withdrawal of the vehicle registration document for a week.
In addition, you may have difficulties with the Prefecture when you want to sell the vehicle.
